mm-Wave Communication Systems at W-Band

摘要

Two communication systems at W-band are introduced, including the system design, the modulation scheme, etc. TV delivery system delivers picture of quality meeting grade 4.5 over 8 km (no rain). Digital communication system is capable of operating at data rates up to 8.448 Mb/s beyond 10 km under a BER of 10 −6 (clear). Millimeter-wave communication can be used as wireless communication in line-of-sight. Compared with microwave communication, mm-wave communication has many virtues such as little volume, light weight, high data rate, short frequency reuse distance, anti-jamming, etc. At the same time, mm-wave communication provides better capability to travel through cloud, fog and dust than optical system. With rapidly expansion of communication services, the shortage of spectrum at microwave frequencies makes operating at mm-wave essential to improve the service quality and avoid the channel jam/interference. As one of the new communication means, mm-wave communication is being used widely (1-9) . The monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) devices at W-band are unavailable commercially. In this paper, based on waveguide component technology at W-band, high performance picture quality in TV delivery system can also be ensured by system design. The input/output (I/O) interface of digital communication system is built according to the CCITT G.703. Both of them can be used in the point-to-point communication in short distance.
