INVESTIGATION ON THERMAL STRESSES IN SPHERICAL TANK SYSTEM OF LNG CARRIERS
摘要
Because of very low cargo temperature of the LNG carrier, which is about - 162 degrees C, thermal stresses will be induced in the tank system when the ship is loaded. Thermal stresses in the frequently used Moss Rosenberg spherical tank system are investigated. A method to calculate the thermal stress is developed. The distribution pattern and main features of the thermal stress are discussed according to the numerical results calculated for typical tank systems.
