A closer look at LNG
摘要
This article discusses liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the factors that would motivate a shift from diesel to LNG across the railroad industry. The author discusses fuel costs and efforts to develop an industry standard fuel tender, as well as methods for delivery of LNG fuel to the locomotive prime-mover. The article also describes LNG test programs, fuel tender safety, and the history of LNG's use.
