On Sloshing Force of Rectangular Tank Type LNG Carrier

Many researches have been reported on sloshing forces of liquid in a ship tank. But most of them have focused on results of experiments and only a few researches have been reported about methods of evaluation of sloshing load on actual ships. In the previous report, the results of the model tests focused on sloshing phenomena of a nearly fully loaded tank which has a large flat tank top were presented. In this report, the authors present the method of evaluation of impulsive pressure on actual ships taking into account the characteristics of the phenomena, that is, scattering of impulsive pressure in regular ship motion and non-linear relation between the amplitude of ship motion and impulsive pressure.The following assumptions were made : (1) The probability distribution of impulsive pressure in regular ship motion conforms to Weibull distribution.(2) The magnitude of pressure varies in a relation between 0 and 2nd power of amplitude.
