The serum expression of the endothelial glycocalyx in uremic patients and healthy individuals
摘要
Objectives To explore the serum expression of the endothelial glycocalyx in uremic patients and healthy individuals. Methods Twenty-three uremic patients who not received dialysis and fifteen age-and sex-matched healthy individuals were included in the study. Sociodemographic characteristics such as age, sex, hypertension and diabetes were obtained by means of questionnaire. Blood haemoglobin, serum albumin, serum creatinine, blood glucose, serum total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides were also measured by automatic biochemistry analyzer. C-reactive protein was measured by immune transmission turbidimetry assay. E-selectin (ES), hyaluronic acid (HA) and Syndecan-1 (SDC) were determined by indirect sandwich ELLISA methods. Results The uremic patients comprised 52.2% men, and the age was (50.7 ± 11.8)years. The serum levels of ES, HA and SDC were statistically higher in the uremic patients when compared with healthy controls, which was(12.76±3.17 )vs.(6.49±1.42) ng/mL (P 0.05). Conclusions The serum levels of endothelial glycocalyx are expressed higher in uremic patients than healthy controls, which will be related to the activation of vascular endothelial cells.
