尼泊尔大地震发生的构造背景及发展趋势
摘要
The Ms 8.1 earthquake on April 25, 2015 was located in the Himalaya Arc Belt consisting of a series of thrusts. The earthquake focus was at a depth of 20 km, which is a breaking at the hanging wall of the Main Himalaya Thrust (or Detachment), promoting a series of smaller earthquakes at smaller depth to the south. The earthquake may give a new thrust, or may be the MBT reactivation. It made the crust wedges at the north and south side of MBT uplifting. The release of stress at depth will make the earthquakes happen in the east and north side. Big earthquakes in the Himalaya arc belt may occurred in a period of 20 years. The Ms 8.1 earthquake was just located in the section of Himalaya arc belt where earthquake may occur in the near future.
