Minimal models of foliated algebraic surfaces

We study holomorphic foliations on algebraic surfaces from the birational point of view. We introduce a notion of minimal model and we classify those foliations which do not have such a minimal model in their birational class. An application to the dynamical study of polynomial diffeomorphisms is given. RESUME. -MODELES MINIMAUX DES SURFACES ALGEBRIQUES FEUILLETEES. -Nous etudions les feuilletages holomorphes sur les surfaces algebriques du point de vue de la geometric birationnelle. Apres avoir introduit une notion de modele minimaln ous classifions les feuilletages qui n'ont pas de modele minimal dans leur classe d'isomorphisme birationnel. Comme corollaire on obtient un resultat concernant la dynamique des diffeomorphismes polynomiaux.
