備受争議的婚姻－艾略特的《米德爾馬契》新解
摘要
Middlemarch is the masterpiece of Victorian novelist George Eliot. Though it has received overwhelming commendations since its publication in 1871, the second marriage of Dorothea and Will Ladislaw has undergone severe attacks from both readers and critics who love both the author and Dorothea. This paper tries to interpret the marriage from a new point-Dorothea and Eliot's idealism-so as to provide a new perspective in understanding this novel.
