摘要

The histopathological response of Macropodus opercularis to Heteroncholeidus magnihamatus Zhang & Ji and H. buschkieli Bychowsky were investigated by serial sectioning the gills of naturally infected fishes. This study indicated Heteroncholeidus attaches to the primary filament and secondary filament by inserting its haptor deeply into the connective tissue. Infection by these parasites cause breakdown of organic integrity, hyperplasia, leucocyte infiltration, fibrosis and necrosis, fusion of respiratory epithelium, connective tissue necrosis, disintegration and the epithelial cells to be separated form capillary blood vessel.
