Analysis of China's LNG Marine Transportation

The global liquefied natural gas(LNG) trade as a beneficial supplement for pipeline gas supply is increasing year by year. LNG is not only an effective guarantee for realizing China's energy security, but also an important part of the national energy strategy. However, currently China's LNG trade development is under 3 major pressures in ensuring the energy security:(1) the relatively centralized import sources make a lack of ability of the risk-resistance of energy security;(2) the small size of LNG transport fleet results in insufficient independent transport capability; and(3) the single independent marine transportation line possibly makes the import channel in a passive position. Therefore, this paper provides 2 suggestions: intensifying diversification of the import sources and establishing China's independent LNG transport fleet.
