MIXED STIFFNESS FINITE ELEMENT METHODS(I)——DIRECT FORMULATION AND MATHEMATICAL FOUNDATIONS

摘要

The mixed stiffness method is a new development of finite element methods which has main characteristics of both standard F. E. methods and mixed ones, The paper is devoted to direct formulation of the methods and to the mathematical preparation needed for a unified approach to various convergence analyses. Two fundamental spaces of permissible functions, piecewise H~1(Q_i)-space and piecewise H(div; D_c~*)-space, are introduced and equipped with two mesh-dependent norms of new type. Some properties of the Hilbert space are discussed.
