Cause for Exit Failure of End Mill
摘要
This paper analyses how a negative shear develops, and gives an expression for the cutting force during the development of the negative shear. It is known from the analysis of stress in the edge of the tool that the development of negative shear changes the direction of application for the cutting force so that the stress field of the tool is worsened, which leads to the failure of tool. This paper also analyses the development of theremal cracks and propagation of cracks from the viewpoint of elastic plastic mechanics and suggests actions to prevent exit failure of tools.
