摘要

Through using a discharge device in a hollow-needle and plate electrode configurations, a atmospheric pressure uniform plasma plume is generated by DC voltage excitation in the ambient air with argon used as working gas. The plasma plume is a pulsed discharge despite a DC voltage is applied by optical and electrical methods. Every pulse corresponds to a propagating process of a plasma bullet from the hollow-needle tip to the plate electrode. The discharge characteristics of the plasma plume are investigated under different applied voltages, gap widths and gas flow rates. The results show that the discharge frequency increases with increasing the applied voltage, decreasing the gap width or decreasing the gas flow rate. An array is proposed, which is composed of several elements of the DC hollow-needle and plate electrode. A uniform discharge with fairly large volume is realized at atmospheric pressure air with this discharge array.
