Treatment of Rhino-Orbital Mucormycosis without Exenteration

摘要

Eight consecutive cases of rhino-orbital mucormycosis were studied. Five patients were diabetic, of which three were ketoacidotic. Two were detected of the disease on out-patient basis by ophthalmologists. Nonseptate hyphae were recognised by biopsy in all patients. None of the patients received exenteration. Five of six patients who were treated with Amphotericin B survived. All surviors have ultimate vision of no light perception.
