Stimulatory Effect of Furoquinoline Alkaloids on the Growth of Trichomonas Vaginalis
摘要
Effects, of three furoquinoline alkaloids, extracted from the leaves of Evodia merrilli (Rutaceae), on the growth of Trichomonas vaginalis were investigated. After 60 hours incubation with skimmianine, growth of Trichomonas vaginalis became more active markedly. Also, Kokusaginine and confusameline stimulated the growth of this parasite in a dose-dependent manner. Protein contents of this parasite were raised by the furoquinolines indicating the participation of protein synthesis. Comparison of the stimulatory activities, they act in the order of skimmianine, Confusameline and kokusaginine. The obtained results suggest that furoquinoline alkaloids possess the ability to stimulate the growth of cultured Trichomonas vaginalis.
