摘要

The most common malignant tumor of the colon is adenocarcinoma. Primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon is a rare entity. Its prevalent site of origin is the proximal portion of the colon, except the anorectum. The tumor typically presents in young patients and follows a highly aggressive course with a characteristically poor prognosis. We present a female patient who complained of left lower quadrant pain and a palpable mass for one week. She was found to have ileocecal intussusception and a cecal tumor was strongly suspected. Malrotation of the colon was noted during laparotomy and the patient received right hemicolectomy. Histological examination revealed that the tumor was an adenosquamous carcinoma. Because of its very low incidence, the histogenesis and prognosis of this disease remain unclear. Consequently, further clinical and histological study of this disease entity is required.
