Localized Amyloidosis of the stomach: Report of a Case
摘要
Localized amyloidosis of the stomach is a rare entity. Its radiologic and endoscopic presentations simulated gastric malignancy. We report a 74-year-old woman presenting with epigastric discomfort for 5 years. The panendoscopic findings showed thickened gastric rugae at the greater curvature of the low body and proximal antrum. The histologic examination revealed amorphous eosinophilic materials located in the lamina propria and muscular mucosa including vascular wall. After conservative management, she was well with two years of follow-up. The differential diagnosis of localized amyloidosis in a patient with enlarged gastric folds must be considered in order to prevent unnecessary operation.
