Signet Ring Cell Adenocarcinoma of the Urachus: A Case Report and Review of 28 Cases

摘要

Signet ring cell adenocarcinomas of the urachus are an extremely rare variety of urachal carcinoma with only 27 cases reported in the literature to date. We present 1 case of a 62-year-old man treated initially by transurethral resection (TUR) followed by a partial cystectomy with en bloc excision of the urachus and umbilicus. Local recurrence occurred 5 months later, and he received palliative TUR and regional radiotherapy. Shrinkage of the residual tumor was documented, and he is still alive and well 22 months after the initial diagnosis. Clinical features, treatment modalities, and the prognosis of this rare disease are reviewed.
