摘要

The Chungnam Coalfie1d is composed of the sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks. The sedimentary sequence is divided into the Hajo, the Amisan, the Jogyeri, the Baegunsa and the Seongjuri Formations in ascending order. The metamorphic rocks are banded gneiss, mica shist, amphibole schist, and migmatite. The sediments are intruded by diorite, biotite granite and acidic dykes. Foldings having the axes trending NE-SW are found, and a few number of small sca1e norma1 faults are developed in southwestern part of the area. About 50 species of plant fossils have been reported from the Amisan and Baegunsa Formations. In this work some new fossil localities which supplied new materials were found. Therefore, it was able to reanalyse the known flora adding with new findings: i.e., Dicty’ophyllum exilis, Clathropteris, Hausmannia. Anomozamites minor, Pterophyllum aequale, P. brauniana,P. cfr. tietzei, Drepanozamites and Adiantites are especially abundant. Estheria, consisted of Triassic form, are a1so found from the Amisan Formation. Inasmuch as the flora found from the Chungnam Coalfield is correlatab1e with the floras of the Rhaeto-Lias iil East Asea and Europe, the geologic age of the plant fossil-bearing Amisan and Baegunsa Formations also may be placed as late Triassic-early Jurassic.
