Role of Laryngeal Mask Airway in Emergency Medicine
摘要
The laryngeal mask airway (LMA) was developed in the 1980’s,but has only been widely used in emergency medicine in the last decade . The device allows effective airway maintenance and assisted ventilation without conventional intubation or direct visualization of the vocal cords. Algorithms developed by the American Society of Anesthesiologists suggest using the LMA in patients with difficult or failed airways. It is easy to apply and has a high success rate, which makes it an attractive tool for emergency physicians and prehospital personnel (including disaster rescue teams). It is easy to train medical personnel to use a LMA and this skill is easy to retain. This article will review the literature to provide a comprehensive view for the use of the LMA in emergency and disaster medicine.
