朝鮮王朝時代 戶口變遷의 社會經濟史的 硏究
摘要
To research the population of the Yi Dynasty is considered a basic theme for the study of Korean social economic history. Therefore, I tried to investigate the factors which had checked the social develop-ment of the Yi Dynasty, the historical development which the nation took a leading part in, and then to research the developing stages of the Yi Dynasty toward the modern society. . The census policy of the Yi Dynasty had the fixed purpose to se-cure the man-power, to rummage out the source of taxation and mili-tary strength, to gain the number of labours, and to guarantee the social poition of the nobility. . The census was taken every third year, showing the continous increase of the population. But the absurdity of census-taking method. the tricks of the officials and the lack of cooperation of the inhabitants raised many difficulties in its process: At the early period of the Yi Dynasty the materials of the study of census were not sufficient and lots of them were at the middle period missed away owing to the wars, but they were found campa. ratively rich at the last period. This study was approached by analysing the relations between th formation and the policy of population, the population changes and the national defense and industry, and the family system and the changes of social position taking a side-view of the social economy. The conclusion in as follows: a. The census of population during the Yi Dynasty aimed to grasp the number of menfolk aged 16-60 only for securing the soldiers, the man-power mobilization and the tax collection. b. The population statistics was taken not by the real census, but by the government-made figure under the necessity of the national policy. c. The inhabitants per house were 4. 2-4. 4 persons on the avera-ge and the increasing rate of population showed 0. 03 per cent to 7. 5 per cent because of the high-rate infant mortality and the short average span of a man's life. d. The number of women was larger than that
