MANAGERIALISM IN SOCIAL WORK — AN EXPLORATION OF ISSUES IN THE UNITED STATES

This article examines the dimensions and importance of managerialism in social work. A three-part question: "What?", "So What?" and "Now what?" forms an analytical frame, which generates a frank deliberation on what actually take place in social work agencies in the U.S. These social work agencies, as a whole, are found to be under-led, under-managed and over-supervised.
