ON COMPACTIFICATIONS OF TYCHONOFF SPACES

摘要

＄￥beta X＄ denotes the Stone-Cech compactification of a Tychonoff space X. Some topological properties of ＄￥beta X-X＄ are characterised in terms of lattice-theoretic Properties of the upper semi-lattice ＄K(X)＄ of all Hausdor compactifications of ＄X＄. Also, we construct the space ＄￥beta X-X＄ from ＄K(X)＄ when ＄X＄ is locally compact; when ＄X＄ is not locally compact, the compact subsets of ＄￥beta X-X＄ are specified.
