A Critique of Irony Study

摘要

Irony is very complex linguistic phenomenon and reveals an incongruity between reality and expectation of speakers.Scholars began to study it from different perspectives,such as psychological perspective and pragmatic perspective and the perspective of cognitive approach.This paper will explore some advantages and problems about irony study from these perspectives.
