Modern Stream of Consciuosness in A Rose for Emily

摘要

William Faulkner’s style of works earns the popularity of the modem stream of consciousness technique. A Rose for Emily is one of his most impressive short stories, whose theme may challenge readers to work out from different perspectives. This paper mainly presents a psychoanalytical account of the reflections of its theme by way of the social and psychological conflicts between erotic passions and human cruelty portrayed in the story.
