摘要

The introduction of Buddhism into Japan was not only a cultural choice, but also a result of struggling for powers. The fight for and against Buddhism between Soga Family and Mononobe Family was the representative event. The dissemination of Buddhism in Japan was made possible with the victory of Soga Family, the proponent of Buddhism. Since that, in order to manage a sole religious belief the royal class promoted Buddhism actively, by making use of popular perception of the similarity between Shinto and Buddhism on pursuing life benefits. On the other hand, ”immigrants” had influenced greatly on the mentality of both ruling class and common Japanese. They contributed a lot on the aspects of Buddha culture spread, temple construction and Buddha statue building, Buddhism classics translation and Buddhists development.
