摘要
The problems of designing urban square were analyzed, and they were mainly as follows: the dimension of one-track square was overlarge, the space design was lack of humanities love and poor in design measure; the design neglected to relate with original urban space pattern and shape; it was also short of distinct feature and not significant place, and so on. The paper also put forward the four basic principles of urban square design. They have comprehensive practicability in order to satisfy the requirement of city function and residential livelihood. They are beautiful and contain higher cultural connotation-aesthetic, and they also have certain ecology effect and one of the four basic principles is one side in city secure installation, having the function to prevent calamity. All of these can be projecting city characteristics, in order that a rational, quantitative and effective method in city construction has been found.
